Official Day Off

I had my day off last Friday but before I went home, I dropped by at Immaculate Conception Parish Church to request a mass for my Dad this coming Tuesday. It's supposed to be his birthday this February 2 and he should be turning 63 if only he is still here.

After not being able to drive for almost 5 months, I felt that there are lots of things that I was not able to do and needs ample time to accomplish almost everything.

I also visited my house at Xevera to make sure that it is still in good condition and somehow well-maintained by the lessee.

It was almost 1:30 PM when I had my lunch. I was so hungry because the last time I had food intake was at 2:30 AM when we had our break at work. I decided to just eat at KFC downtown instead of going to the mall for this reason.

After that, I dropped by at Filipino Enterprise to buy some of the ingredients that I need in baking macaroons. After which, I decided to go to the supermarket to buy toiletries and few stuffs that I'll need for the week. I was also busy going from one mall shop to another checking if there is anything that would interest me or if lucky enough, to catch for any "best buys" being offered.

At around 6:30 PM, that's the only time that I remember to check my cell phone. There was a message from my mom asking me if I would prefer to eat out for dinner. Who would be in her right mind to decline such an offer? I chose AFC (Angeles Fried Chicken) even if I missed eating at VFW (Veterans of Foreign War) Post 168 because it is just few blocks from our house, located just outside Diamond Subdivision.

I told them that I'll meet them after 30 minutes at the resto. Mom, my three siblings, sister-in-law and nephew were there already when I came. Thank God because they've thought of ordering beforehand, which also means that I would be spared from waiting longer.

We had lots of things to talk about. Mom telling about what happened in her work and at the parlor, my youngest sister about her duty at the hospital and my other sister whom I had the chance to ask about her not going to work. It was only then that I knew that she asked for a week-long leave to be able to spend time to review for IELTS (International English Language Testing System) which is a requirement if you are planning of working abroad as a health practitioner. And of course, my most handsome nephew was also there.

After 2 hours of eating and chitchat, we decided to go home because I still need to bake macaroons for Bebe. He likes "toasted" macaroons which is why even if I feel a bit tired from work and not really in the mood to bake, I felt that that was the "motivating force".

I used larger paper cups instead of the small ones that are really intended for macaroons to save time in baking. Although I didn't like much the color of the paper cups because they seem to not match the yellowish color of the macaroons, I decided to take them because of the bear design with the words "I Love You" in it. LOL.

The preparation of macaroons and the mixture before going straight to the oven.

And there you go....before and during baking, oven set at 350 degrees Centigrade.

Finally, they're done! Now, I can sleep. LOL.
