And so the most awaited day came...it's not my wedding...yet! Hahaha. I went to my Orthopedic Surgeon this morning. My cast had been removed but there is still slight swelling and pain surrounding my ankle joint. Waiting for my turn was ten times longer than it took him to remove my cast and check on my foot which is only for about 10 minutes. I was a bit nervous while he was cutting the cast. I feel that one wrong move, the machine that he is using will cut through my skin, muscle deep.
I was so happy seeing my left foot once again (laughs). After 2 weeks of being covered by cast, it was really a relief that it was finally removed. However, I was not that happy though since I expected much more in terms of the prognosis. I felt that after 2 weeks of immobilization and rest, it should have healed completely. Nevertheless, bottom line is that I saw some improvement, although very marginal.
My Orthopedic Surgeon advised me to go back on the 16th for a follow up check-up. Although the cast had been removed, I am still using the aluminum adjustable crutches that my mom bought a day after my foot was placed in cast as per doctor's advice. In addition to that, I can only use my left foot for partial-weight bearing and this should be done gradually.
I am still feeling a bit of numbness and tightness whenever my toes are extended. He also encouraged me to exercise in a pool as the buoyancy of the water would help lift the body weight while doing the gait training. I hope everything will go well as days pass by. The doctor did his part already; all I have to do is lift up to God the rest of the treatment.
